Friday tidying tips to keep the mind happy and clear~

ANCIENT PATHWAYS LOADING...

Aloha Friday w/ post-eclipse tidying~

Aloha Kakou,

The lunar eclipse this week can bring in different sets of feels, but one thing that I find helpful during times of change is tidying up. It gives you a sense of control between the un-controllables. A sense of things being put together and the energy of a space can be instantly transformed by just getting things in a little more order as we ramp up Virgo season - which loves to have organization, planning ahead, and practical reflection leading so meaningful self-discipline.

Tidying can obviously include the good ol' kitchen, your bath counter, or the bedroom closet, but I like to also include our altars, cars, finances, mental space, and inner worlds (emotions, mana, auric bodies). Don't worry about doing everything at once. Just take a minute of intuitive inventory of what area either gets seen/passed the most often or which area has been neglected lately and tackle that one area first. Make it a weekly habit and you'll be onto something soon ~

One way to address the mental clutter is by getting ahead of build up before it fully accumulates. An easy way to do this is by better thought-labeling.

  • If you catch yourself explaining how "I'm always so....(insert negative connotation of self-aware behavior: behind, late, anxious, etc.)" then start to change that verbiage into "I sometimes tend to ___" or "In the past, I've ____, but I'm actively working to be more ____" (ie: "In the past, I've tended more towards anxious thoughts before travel, but I've been setting myself up for better success lately by noticing what brings up anxiety and tackling that the week before I leave.")
  • Identifying that a feeling or thought is arriving and flowing in and out of your consciousness rather than attaching your current identity to it is key here. This gets easier with practice, deep breaths, meditation and somatics. The feeling or pattern is coming up to show you something before it leaves again; you as an entire being are not the feeling or pattern itself.
    • You can also imagine yourself as the entirety of a tree. You have roots, expressions of yourself like leaves and fruits on branches. But every fallen leaf or piece of fruit is not always a loss. Sometimes, letting a branch go with the wind is the best thing to do for the health of the whole tree. The same can go with your acts of tidying, getting rid of things that are not 'spark joy' (loveee Marie Kondo if you haven't watched her art of tidying up yet), and staying flexible to adapt with the changing winds.

Another thing that can be focused on is financial foresight: The holidays might not be anywhere near your radar now, but come 2 months from now they will be. And high performers love to look ahead because it makes things easy when life kicks into high gear. So, take a look at not only what you're spending money on, but why. Do you tend to splurge at a certain time of the month or after certain stressful events (family visiting, a big project due at work, a certain holiday)? Is that a healthy outlet for you, or does it contribute to the spiral of "not enough-ness" feelings that come later? Don't beat yourself up over any of this reflection; just notice, then adjust. I always like to round up my savings/investment allowances and round down my spending. Then you end up having more than you need at all times, which your nervous system will absolutely love.

These are just little tidbits into how we can continually expand our self-awareness to be of better service to our communities. If you'd like more, the Self-Care Set is ready for you. Until next time ~ ahui hou!

xx,
