Let's talk about triggers...but not the usual type

ANCIENT PATHWAYS INCOMING...
I can't help but put a positive spin on it bc you deserve a better life~
So let's talk about positive triggersand how to use them to build better habits, greater fulfillment in our everyday lives, and more space for our heavy mental loads.
But first, quick accountability check on how the last week went:
Your 3 healthy non-negotiables still going well? Keep it up!
1 worry to excitement switch up. If you haven't done it yet, find it now.
1 cup-filling day; what did it for you? Maybe try that again this week or see how things change week by week.
Okay. Everyone hears about "getting triggered" in the big or little T type of way, but positive triggers really don't get the airtime they deserve. Why? Because humans tend to be drawn more towards negative bias, threats, scares, etc. since that's how we survived for so long. If a potential danger was heard or spoken about 2,000 years ago, it was something we HAD to pay attention to. However, now that we have access to way too much at every second of the day, it is up to US to decipher what deserves to trigger us into fearful action vs. tune out vs. turn into something better.
I like to focus on the something betters.
Positive triggers can be scents, sounds, visual cues, places, or strings of words. It can really be anything that has a nice association with something else in your brain, allowing for a shortcut of neurochemical cascades or behaviors so your brain saves precious calories to continue doing what it does so well in the background all day (keep you alive:).
I enjoy using scents to immediately initiate groundedness or liven up a room in the beginning and ends of my days (lighting herbs, incense, or a beeswax candle, or an essential oil room spray). Another one I inherited from my mom was rubbing my thumbs back and forth on the steering wheel in traffic to help calm and bring me back into my present body; it always reminds me how lucky I am to even be in a safe car, going somewhere I get to look forward to, and often with someone I love or with music I enjoy singing to instead of focusing on the traffic. Plumeria picking reminds me of the sweetness of life, our wedding aisle covered in it, my family's love for the pua, our kumu hale, and carefree days. A good sweat from my workout goes immediately into a cool rinse off after, which I also gargle and reiki in for physical and aura-l health. I could go on, but the gist is to find what positive triggers do you already have in your life and where can you add in some more? This only works when done consistently, often, or regularly. One and done won't cut it to build a new brain circuit!
This is what hypobirthing and classical conditioning (like in Pavlov's famous experiment) are based in. This is what makes habit stacking easier, reduces our mental to-do lists as we make our neural connections more automatic, and also engraves a sense of gratitude into our every actions.
Excited to hear how it goes for you :)
And if you're ready to go deeper, ancestral sessions are starting soon. Group sessions will open up over the next couple weeks, then 1:1 sessions kick-off. Click the button below to claim first dibs.
~~~~ ANCIENT PATHWAYS ~~~~
My 3-part coaching program to take you out of your busy mind + packed days and into your spirit through the guidance of your healed and wise ancestors. Together, we will set up your ancestral altar, meet a healed and wise ancestor through the meditative Sacred Ancestry Method, unravel somatic memories, and help you integrate the messages, unblocks, and blessings that come through from the other side of the veil. Going through these sessions myself while starting a family was such a gift and I recommend it to anyone on the cusp of transitioning into a new phase of life - whether that's through optimizing their holistic wellbeing, switching jobs, changing places, or just feeling shifts that are hard to pinpoint. You never know what you never try, so if you're feeling called, now is the time.
P.S. With how much our cells constantly build up and break down (est. 330 billion cells/day!), you are quite literally a different person every season. Who are you choosing to be for this one?
